Problem

Many students lack consistent access to essential school supplies due to financial barriers, forcing teachers to fill the gap themselves. In the United States, about 1 in 4 students cannot afford basic school supplies, which negatively affects student confidence, participation, and classroom engagement. Access to supplies is crucial in fostering a positive and effective learning environment for both teachers and students.

User Testing

Feedback from Primary audience (middle school students):

  • Likes the easy and simple design

  • Suggests nothing too bright or kid-like

  • Confusing when it gets to the kit pages. Suggests an instructions page, a brief paragraph on the welcome page, or a help button near the title that explains the steps.

  • Using "default" to describe the set if confusing. There should be an explanation somewhere.

feedback from secondary audience (teachers & parents):

  • Suggests keeping the dragging element for the extras tab but removing the dragging element on the summary page, they mentioned that having a normal summary would work the same and speed up the process

  • Liked the navigational tabs on the side, they recommended keeping the overall UI relatively readable and clean

  • Enjoyed the “sync all” option. this was a smart addition

  • Mentioned there should be some sort of welcome screen before the selections or on each page so that all kids could understand how to use the tablet
